Fiona came to us from a rural shelter in Baker County with a terrible injury—we believe she was caught in a trap, and one of her back feet was missing. In addition to an open, infected wound, she was heartworm positive, battling parasites, and recovering from a severe ear infection.

Right away, we knew she needed specialized care. We reached out to Dr. Mack at Palm Valley Veterinary Center, who immediately agreed to medically board her for us. Dr. Wolff performed surgery to close her wound, but sadly, Fiona tore her incision site open again. After a reevaluation, Dr. Wolff determined a full amputation was necessary to give her the best chance at a pain-free life.

After her surgery, Fiona's journey took another scary turn when she was rushed back to the ER with a severe infection and complications. She was hospitalized for two weeks, but she had a team of people ready to help. A huge thank you to Heather Birdwell and Courtney Cicchetti for tag-teaming to spoil her as she recovered.

Despite everything she's been through, Fiona remains a gentle and trusting soul. At just one year old and 30 pounds, this brave little girl is a fighter with a heart full of love. She still has a long road ahead, but she's not walking it alone.

If you'd like to help with Fiona's ongoing care, please consider a tax-deductible donation. Every little bit helps give dogs like Fiona a second chance!
