Another Emergency!

Updated: Jun 16, 2023

When we went to the Union County shelter to meet, introduce and evaluate dogs, we saw this poor girl.

Barbie came into the shelter as a walking skeleton. She was covered with fleas, and we assume loaded with parasites. We knew we needed to get her to the vet immediately so we called Palm Valley Veterinary Center and they said “bring her in!”

Valerie Losego and her mom and kids brought her to Palm Valley, where she’s now hospitalized and getting the best care available.

Thank you, Nancye, Susan, Valerie, Mercia, Talia, and Tanner for coming out to the shelter again today to help network dogs. As always, thank you Dr. Mack and the staff at Palm Valley for coming to the rescue when we have emergencies. Please say a prayer for the sweet girl!

Update: Barbie is not doing great. She is negative for Parvo, but she’s loaded with hookworms, and red blood cell count was very low, so Dr. Mack gave her a transfusion. He is continuing to treat her anemia and try to keep her stabilized. Please keep her in your prayers.
