Mojo — Another 911 Call

Updated: Mar 3, 2023

Another 911 call. This time someone abandoned a 9 month old Husky with Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis at Capital Vet, declined to treat him, and walked out without paying. The staff at Capital Vet called him numerous times over the next two days, and when he finally answered, he told them "just euthanize him." When they tried to explain the options, he hung up on them.

Dr. Apolo, who helped save Summer's babies at Capital Vet, reached out to us for help. Mojo was in such bad shape that she was worried that he'd be euthanized if they sent him to the shelter. With every shelter overcrowded and turning animals away, that was a valid concern.

We wanted to help, but we had two problems: (1) trying to find a way to save him; and (2) finding a place for him to go if we were able to save him. We're already short several fosters, so that's a pretty big problem.

Once again, Susan reached out to Francia at Husky Haven of Florida Inc., and we suggested a plan— FUR would cover the medical costs and try to save Mojo, if Husky Haven could take him once we get him healthy. Without a moment's hesitation, Francia agreed.

With a plan in place, Capital Vet signed him over to us and we officially took him into FUR. We paid Capital Vet to treat him overnight, and we picked him up and took him to Palm Valley the next morning, where Dr. Mack immediately hospitalized him. Mojo is a very sick boy. This is a dangerous, often fatal condition, but we know he's in great hands with Dr. Mack, and we're doing everything we can to give him the best chance of survival. Please say a prayer for this sweet boy.
