A Huge Milestone for Elsa

A Huge Milestone for Elsa
A Huge Milestone for Elsa

Many of you may remember Elsa, the senior pregnant mama we pulled from Union County Animal Control after discovering she became pregnant while in their custody and was left without proper medical care for months.

When we took her in, Elsa was severely emaciated, dangerously anemic, heartworm positive, covered in fleas and parasites, and fighting for her life while heavily pregnant. To make matters worse, while rescue efforts were being delayed and we were initially not allowed to pull her, Elsa was left outside in sub-freezing temperatures in her fragile condition.

Thankfully, Elsa survived, her puppies were born safely, and she has been recovering in loving foster care ever since.

Today marks another big step in Elsa’s journey, she is at Palm Valley Veterinary Center receiving her first heartworm treatment. We cannot thank them enough for their support with all of our pups!

Heartworm treatment is incredibly hard on dogs, especially seniors, so we would truly appreciate prayers, positive thoughts, and healing wishes for this sweet girl today. She has already overcome so much, and we are beyond proud of how far she’s come.

We also want to give a HUGE thank you to Sarah Farwell for fostering Elsa through every step of her recovery. Caring for a medically fragile senior dog is no small task, and Elsa would not be where she is today without Sarah’s love, patience, and dedication.

Thank you to everyone who has supported Elsa along the way. Because of you, dogs like Elsa get the second chance they deserve.
