Against All Odds: Juliette's Incredible Journey to Her Forever Home

Against All Odds: Juliette's Incredible Journey to Her Forever Home

Sweet Juliette was found living under a trailer with her newborn puppies and what we thought was a simple leg injury. Sadly, it was so much worse. Juliette had multiple breaks in her leg along with a broken pelvis. As if that wasn't enough, she was heartworm positive, anemic, riddled with multiple parasites and absolutely covered in fleas. Baker County Animal Control reached out to us when they received her, and we knew we had to help.

Even with everything stacked against her, she is the sweetest mama, not only with her babies but with everyone she meets. She quickly became a favorite at Palm Valley Veterinary Center. A huge thank you to Joan Sosin for immediately offering to transport and to Rosario Arteaga and her family for offering to foster, and to Michelle Spurgeon Foster for assisting! We could never do this without the help of all of our amazing volunteers!

Juliette nursed and cared for her babies, and with a lot of love and TLC from Rosario and her family, the puppies were happy and healthy. When they were adopted, Juliette had surgery to repair her badly broken leg. Dr. Neihaus at Jacksonville Veterinary Surgery did a fantastic job, as always. While she was recovering from surgery, she went through heartworm treatment, since she was already on restricted activity. She made it through both with flying colors, thanks to the love and care from her foster Mom Rosario. We’re excited to announce that Juliette is now happily adopted by the Kitrel family.

Sick and injured animals need help fast. Every donation helps, but Monthly donors give us flexibility to respond immediately when there is an emergency. When there is a hoarding case or a hurricane, a dog with a gunshot wound or a cruelty case, we have to act quickly. We don't have time to do a fundraiser, and wait for those funds to get to us. Your monthly donation can help us save lives again and again.
