Charlotte was Adopted as a Puppy and Came Back as a Stray 5 Years Later

Charlotte's Story:
When a dog adopted from FUR as a puppy five years ago came back into a vet clinic as a stray, we were surprised. When we contacted the adopter multiple times and they didn’t respond, we were concerned. When her husband finally called back, he said they “gave her away” a couple months ago to someone online and he didn’t know the person’s name or number, we were shocked and beyond disappointed. They don’t want her back “because they have kids and don’t have time for the dog.”

Dogs are members of the family. They’re not disposable and shouldn’t be given away carelessly. They are living breathing amazing creatures.

Thank you Merrill Animal Clinic for holding her when a Good Samaritan found her, and updating her vaccinations and heartworm test. Thank you, Jessica Cromer for scrambling once again to help a dog in need, picking her up and taking her to boarding. Thank you Lynda Gridley for picking her up and taking her to the vet, and Dr. Bissell at Sandbridge veterinary clinic for squeezing her in on short notice. Finally, a HUGE Thank You to Lynn, Tish and the staff at Sunland Acres for once again coming to the rescue in an emergency.

We would like to re-introduce Charlotte. She’s a 5 1/2 years old, beagle hound mix and super sweet. We last saw her when she was eight weeks old, but she’s as sweet as ever. Now Charlotte needs a foster home so if anyone would like to give her a safe place to crash we would be forever grateful.

Sick and injured animals need help fast. Every donation helps, but Monthly donors give us flexibility to respond immediately when there is an emergency. When there is a hoarding case or a hurricane, a dog with a gunshot wound or a cruelty case, we have to act quickly. We don't have time to do a fundraiser, and wait for those funds to get to us. Your monthly donation can help us save lives again and again. To learn more, please visit: https://www.floridaurgentrescue.org/donatemonthly.
