Charlotte was Adopted as a Puppy and Came Back as a Stray 5 Years Later
Charlotte finally has a happy ever after.

Charlotte's Story:
Remember Charlotte, who was adopted from FUR as a puppy and came back as a stray 5 years later? Thankfully FUR was the emergency contact on her microchip and the vet clinic called us.
When we contacted the adopter multiple times and they didn’t respond, we were concerned. When her husband finally called back, he said they “gave her away” to someone online and he didn’t know the person’s name or number, we were shocked and beyond disappointed. They don’t want her back “because they have kids and don’t have time for the dog.” They dumped her.
With no fosters available, our only option for Charlotte was boarding. Thankfully Lynn, Tish and the staff at Sunland Acres once again saved the day in an emergency and gave her a safe place to hang out until we figured out a plan. Thanks to a team of volunteers including Jessica Cromer, Kelly MacDade and Lynda Gridley, for visiting her, taking her out on day trips, and letting us get a chance to know her better.
We're excited to announce that Charlotte is now adopted by the Mackey family. The sleepover was a little bumpy at first, but we asked expert trainer Andrea Jaffe for help with her leash manners. Andrea did three sessions with Charlotte and her new family, and everyone got on the same page, and they are all happy together. Special thanks to Jessica Cromer and Erin Kupcha, who both helped with the adoption.
We are beyond excited for this sweet girl, and so grateful to everyone who helped her along the way.

Sick and injured animals need help fast. Every donation helps, but Monthly donors give us flexibility to respond immediately when there is an emergency. When there is a hoarding case or a hurricane, a dog with a gunshot wound or a cruelty case, we have to act quickly. We don't have time to do a fundraiser, and wait for those funds to get to us. Your monthly donation can help us save lives again and again.
