Fiona is Adopted!
A Happy Ending for Our Brave Tripod Girl!

We have some exciting news to share about our brave tripod girl, Fiona—she's adopted!
Fiona's journey to her forever home has been long and challenging. She was found hiding under a shed in Baker County after being caught in a trap, leaving her with a bloody stump where her foot should have been. Deputy Montford was able to get her out, and she was immediately transferred to FUR for urgent medical care.
A True Fighter
Fiona was in very rough shape. In addition to her severe injury, she was heartworm positive, loaded with parasites, she had a severe ear infection, and she was extremely anemic. Dr. Wolff at Palm Valley Veterinary Center initially tried to save her remaining leg. Unfortunately, Fiona later chewed her bandage and tore the incision, and we realized that a full amputation was necessary to give her the best chance at a healthy, pain-free life.
Fiona truly carried the heart of a fighter through two major surgeries! We are so grateful to Dr. Wolff and the staff at Palm Valley for their exceptional care throughout her surgeries and recovery.
An Incredible Village
Fiona’s "village" was incredible and helped her every step of the way!
A HUGE thank you to her amazing foster families, Courtney Cicchetti and Heather Whitfield, for giving her a safe, loving place to recover and learn to trust again. Fostering is critically important, especially with injured animals who need extra care. Courtney and Heather and their families went above and beyond to give Fiona a better life!
Thank you to Joan Sosin, Walt Shay, Andrea Lepianka and Diana Allen for transporting her from the shelter, to vet appointments, and to adoption events.
Thank you to Valerie Losego for doing the home visit and coordinating all the logistics!
Fiona is now living the good life with her new family, Deandra and Daniel, both veterans, who are giving her all the love and security she deserves! We are so thrilled this sweet, gentle, and trusting girl has found her happily ever after.
