Gizmo's Inspiring Story

Tag-Team Fosters and a Dream Come True

Gizmo's Inspiring Story
Gizmo's Inspiring Story

Remember Gizmo, the tiny fighter who came into the shelter in heartbreaking condition? This little guy was a mess—scratching himself raw, missing patches of fur, and battling a terrible skin infection. His eyes were cloudy, his vision impaired, and his ears painfully infected. On top of it all, bloodwork revealed he had Ehrlichia, a tick-borne illness. Poor Gizmo couldn’t catch a break. Then, things took an even tougher turn. His foster family unexpectedly withdrew their offer and suggested we euthanize him. Suddenly, Gizmo had nowhere to go after his vet appointment with Dr. Bissell at Sandbridge Veterinary Center.

But we weren’t about to give up on him. Enter our incredible foster heroes: Niki Wescott, Julie Martinez, and Erin Kupcha. These rockstars put their heads together and worked out a tag-team foster plan for Gizmo. Huge thanks to Torena Rowe for transporting him and to Niki, Erin, and Julie for stepping up when he needed it most.

Now, here’s the happy ending we’ve all been waiting for—Gizmo has been adopted by the amazing Patti Hardy! He’s almost fully recovered, though he’s still fighting a recurring ear infection and starting a new antibiotic. But here’s the best part: Patti is spoiling him rotten, and Gizmo is living the good life he always deserved. Thanks to your support, this little warrior’s story has a joyful new chapter. Go, Gizmo—you’ve got an army of fans cheering you on!

Sick and injured animals need help fast. Every donation helps, but Monthly donors give us flexibility to respond immediately when there is an emergency. When there is a hoarding case or a hurricane, a dog with a gunshot wound or a cruelty case, we have to act quickly. We don't have time to do a fundraiser, and wait for those funds to get to us. Your monthly donation can help us save lives again and again.
