A Tiny Puppy in Terrible Condition

Pepper didn’t get the start in life that any puppy deserves, but she’s finally getting the chance to rewrite her story.
At just 12 weeks old, this tiny girl arrived as a stray suffering from severe demodectic mange — a condition that is entirely preventable and the result of neglect, not fate.
And still, Pepper chooses love.
She is unbelievably sweet, gentle, and trusting. She soaks up every bit of affection she can from her amazing foster, Aimee Hagar. You would never guess the discomfort she’s endured by the way she leans in for cuddles and looks at you with those hopeful eyes.
Pepper’s journey to safety took a team. Torena Rowe stepped up to transport her from the shelter, and Kelly Powell made sure she got safely to her foster home with Amie Hagar, giving this little girl her first real chance at comfort and care.

Pepper has now been seen by one of our trusted veterinary partners, Palm Valley Veterinary, and is receiving the care she desperately needed. She’s started on multiple medications, along with a special shampoo and conditioner regimen to help her skin heal. We’ve also sent out a complete blood panel to ensure we understand everything her little body is fighting. Amie is an amazing foster, and she's in wonderful hands.

The good news is that demodectic mange is not contagious, and with proper treatment, Pepper has a real chance at a full, healthy life — the life she always deserved.
Now, she needs us.
Her journey to healing will take time, care, and resources. If you can help support Pepper, whether through donations, sharing her story, or simply keeping her in your thoughts, you are part of giving this sweet girl a second chance.

She didn’t deserve what happened to her. But together, we can make sure her story has a beautiful ending.
Welcome to safety, Pepper. You are finally safe!
